Has ads now, before it would only ask you to purchase something everytime. Update: considerably worse now, forces you to watch ads before proceeding to app. Incredibly frustrating to wait 20 seconds each time to see who's at the door, or to check on the house.... edit/update: The camera app has now opened up a browser and went to a website that informed me my android is infected with viruses. (for those who don't understand, it's a scam).. expectations were low, I'm still getting surprised.

12/20/23: As others have said... I've used Yi for years, generally happy with it. Now, full screen ads on startup. Do not offer me a discount on an ad-free subscription. I'm not getting it. Update 1/31/25: Wow, they're really hitting the startup ads hard. Update 5/2/25: I'm moving on to a different product. The inundation of ads is not worth the quality of this product.

I would not use this app if it were not outright required to use the cameras. It now plays ads every time I open it, which is obviously not ideal if you are trying to use your cameras after just hearing an odd sound and trying to decide whether to be concerned. As if the external ads weren't bad enough, the app is also constantly advertising its other services, and by "constantly," I mean every time you open the app, select a camera to view, or switch to literally any other part of the app.

Update my review from years ago to a 1 star. Crazy annoying ads that fills up your time trying to open the app to view camera. Defeats the whole purpose of having a surveillance when it takes forever to view what you want. Simply put.. going to uninstall, trash these cameras, and migrate over to Wyze. Just read all the other s.. I pull up my 4 cameras daily and it works great. Sometimes there's a slight lag, but that could be due to various things. Very reliable so far, keep it up!

This now has ads and it's very annoying. I've been using the camera for 2 years now and really thought it useful and convenient whole free. Now to force you to be "ad free" you must pay for a subscription. I'm actively seeking an alternative because why do I need to pay to view a camera that I paid for or have to avoid ads. Do not waste your money on the cameras.

App is terrible. It's like you are using a free game with all the ads. Camera allowed for storage on the card installed, when I bought it. But the updated app doesn't allow for that. Sucks you buy something for it's features then down the road they take them away. Terrible for a "security" app. Absolutely worthless now. Think I'll replace it with a newer version of the cameras? Naw.

What in the world is with all the aggressive ads all of a sudden. I have several yi cameras that I use sporadically when we are out of town, so I haven't used them for a while until this past weekend. the ads are so incessant that I can't even close some of them, and ALL ads are unreasonably obstructive to the ease of use I with yi... that's why I stuck with Yi for years. I'll be replacing all of my wi-fi cameras with another brand ASAP.

URGENT WARNING, please read this!! I was watching my baby on one of my cameras & it automatically opened my browser to a potential malware page saying my phone was infected. I did not touch the screen, my phone was just sitting there. These ads are now a huge security risk. I am going to have to find new cameras. I don't think I can trust this company anymore! I would advise anyone still using these cameras to be very careful! This probably violates a Google Play Store policy as well.
