100,000+ space objects available for free!Uncover the beauty of the night sky with the Sky Tonight app. Effortlessly navigate the stars, planets, constellations, satellites, and more! Discover comets, asteroids, today’s Moon phase, and even get alerts for the next meteor shower or special celestial events. Everything you need for stargazing is right here in Sky Tonight! Works offline
Answer the three big questions every stargazer asks:
★ What's that bright object in the sky?
★ What celestial events can I witness tonight?
★ How do I find the object I'm curious about?
Sky Tonight offers an experience tailored just for you. Customize the constellation view, set reminders for unique space events, explore objects’ paths from your vantage point, filter stars and planets by their magnitude, and so much more!
Sky Tonight features:
► Point your device at the sky to see the real-time positions of space objects on the interactive sky map.
► Activate the Time Machine and determine the position of celestial bodies at different time periods.
► Use the augmented reality mode and see the sky map overlaid on the image from your device's camera.
► Get extended information about any sky object by tapping on its name.
► Stay updated on the latest news from the world of astronomy with the What's new section.
► Turn on the night mode to make your sky observation in the nighttime more comfortable.
► Filter the objects that appear on the sky map according to their visual brightness.
► Regulate the brightness of objects on the sky map.
► Spot dozens of asterisms along with the official constellations.
► Adjust the visible constellations and customize their representation on the screen.
Unique features:
◆ Interactive trajectories relative to an observer
Instead of the classic trajectory that shows the object’s trajectory in the celestial sphere relative to the Earth’s center, the app presents the object’s trajectory in the sky relative to an observer. A long touch on the trajectories relative to the observer will move the sky object to the selected point. While holding the touch, move your finger along the trajectory to change the time.
◆ Flexible search
Make use of the flexible search — quickly find objects, easily navigate across different objects and events’ types. Look for "stars", "mars moons", "mars conjunctions", "solar eclipse", and the app will show you all related objects, events, and articles!
There are also Trending and Recent categories in the search section. The first one presents the currently most popular objects, events, or news; the second category contains objects you recently selected.
◆ Fully customizable event reminders
Set event reminders on any time and date not to miss a solar eclipse, a Full Moon, or a star-planet configuration you're interested in.
◆ Astronomy calendar with a stargazing index and weather forecast
Check out the calendar of celestial events that includes lunar phases, meteor showers, eclipses, oppositions, conjunctions, and other exciting events. Learn what astronomy events will occur this month or see what happened in the sky a year ago!
the Stargazing Index calculated from a Moon phase, light pollution, cloudiness, and time when an object is visible. The higher this index is, the better the observation conditions are.
You don’t need several apps for your stargazing planning anymore; Sky Tonight contains all the info you need.
Access:
*The app includes paid Access. Get Access to use Sky Tonight with no limits! Without the subscription, you won't be able to see most of the interface items in different sections, such as Visible Tonight, Calendar, and Search. With Access, you can unlock all interface items in each view and take full advantage of all the app's features. ments are also removed so as not to interrupt your stargazing experience.

I've been using sky tonight for a little while now and it's been extremely helpful with my astrophotography. However, the last couple of times I've opened the app the bar on top of the screen that includes the search icon, calendar, etc will not allow you to select anything on it. It just acts like you're trying to find out what is in the sky at that location. Same for the bottom pull up menu where you can change your location and what the sky map screen looks like.

UPDATE: Its been over a year now. Still being charged though it was supposed to be paid off 4 mos ago. The alerts are annoying, untrue, and thinky veiled attempts to convince me to two additional apps. The constellation names aren't even the common names. You can't zoom in or out functionally. The calibration is always inaccurate. I'm canceling and uninstalling. 8/19/2024: Love it. And for less than $20 for life? Well worth the investment!

Pretty nice. Does have the comet currently ing by (C/2023 A3 (Tsuchinshan–ATLAS)) but it's very small. Very nice features, like showing the trajectory and time stamps when it will reach certain spots. Had to remove a star simply for all the menus being too sleek and hard to navigate. Add a simple back button instead of the weird "menu> menu> menu" design. Pretty funny how in the "Star gazing News" section, there's a short article about the comet and has a link to a competitor's app

I really want to like this app but I can't. I'm forever looking for a way to go back to the previous screen.. I find the navigation through the app so frustrating. I also couldn't find a simple, static sky map anywhere for a specified date and location. And your own website is pointing out the planetary alignment in January 2025, yet there's no option to search for it?? How are we supposed to find the date of alignment in your app if we can't see the whole sky at once???

The ads are horrible. You just randomly get very intrusive video ads of bad quality 'games' and sometimes they have loud sound without mute button. And of course they are those that have multiple parts where the skip button isn't available right away. Otherwise the app is OK and works fine but the ads ruin it a lot and I wouldn't recommend. (I get that money is needed to maintain the app but come on...)

Still trying to figure out how to use it. At first it would give you augmented AI which didn't help inside the house.Thar was just as well because the com was off by 180°. The com seems to sort itself out after turning the phone on and off. Now when I'm outside I can't use it to find things in the sky because it does not work like sky map. The information saying when a comet will rise above the horizon or set is in dark blue and small print. It makes you buy a companion app.

I think with time and development, this app has a lot of potential. the graphics and interface are beautiful and have a lovely sound. However, it's not friendly and quite hard to navigate. the tabs should be better labeled and a how to intro would be useful. lots of the features just lead you to another app.

Identifies objects ok, which is good. However, I have checked my location settings on my Android mobile, etc, but the accuracy is not correct. I can see the moon and I'm facing it, but I need to have my mobile at about 2 o'clock to see the moon on my phone. It's all a bit frustrating.
