SECURITY FEATURES
• All data is encrypted, including Entry names, Category definitions and the data itself. Even the choice of Favorite Category is encrypted.
• Encrypts data using AES or Blowfish algorithms with key sizes of 256, 192 or 128 bits.
• When the data file is decrypted, up to all combinations of algorithm and key size are tried with the Master to unlock the data file. The app itself does not store any hint to the actual cipher or key size.
• Uses a randomly generated 'salt' combined with the Master . Salt helps to protect from off-line dictionary attacks.
• The key to open the data file is created by combining your master with the 512-bit 'salt'. The result is hashed 1000 times by SHA-256. Repetitive hashing makes a brute force attack more difficult.
• s auto destruction of the data file after a predefined number of unsuccessful unlocks have been tried.
• Unlike other similar Android apps aWallet has no internet access permission (forever). The only permissions this app has is to access to the USB device to backup/restore the data file in case you lose your phone. USB device access is also needed to export to CSV file format. Permission is also granted to the Google Play billing service to allow for the optional purchase of the aWallet Pro features.

I've loved using this app, BUT my screen had a smudge and it didn't read my fingerprint a few times. Now I'm locked out - I haven't entered the in years so I don't know it, and I get that. But why won't it let me try the fingerprint again? I have the same fingers! Have I permanently lost hundreds of s? The FAQ seem to say that's the case. It should go back to fingerprint after a day, at least.

Worked well for several years until I decided to add another fingerprint to my phone. From that point, aWallet refused to access the app via biometrics. How ridiculous! There is no way to retrieve the master . Thanks a lot!!! I have now permanently lost access to everything!! What a stupid system. So I need to write down my master ? Crazy. May just as well write them all in a book. You have caused me so much stress. Evil!!!

I use aWallet free since many years. It's reliable, has a very fair free-to-paid feature ratio (I think only csv export is non-free) and it is slim. I learned from other reviews/answers now that the lack of being able to choose the backup location is to save permissions and I like this philosophy! However some years ago I also had the accidental reset because my phone was unlocked. Please make it much more steps to reset (like let the type 'yes, reset'). Btw FOSS + donation would be great.

Lost all my data after moving to a new device. Guys, if you know that USB cables "destroy" crypt backup files then damn pop it up in BIG red blinking letters when a backup is made in the APP. Its not enough to write it in FAQs that people usually read *after* the issue occurs. For the notice, 3 last backup-restores over USB cable went fine.

The backup file couldn't be restored! I lost everything!! I backed up my data regularly and stored in Google drive, but recently my phone was factory reset, so I reinstalled the app, did a restore , but it just doesn't let me . My master is 100 percent correct. I also used the original . The customer service told me the file could be corrupted! What a joke?! If it's corrupted so easily, then what is the purpose of backing up? Be extremely careful when using this app!

Followed steps to back up and tried to use data.cypt on another device, the app kept telling wrong . Update: thanks it's working. Just a little suggestion, you may add a logic to detect the existing of old backup, if found, make the app to delete the old one and recreate the new one. Overall, this is a great app.

Paid for Pro Version to import csv. Was not straight forward but worked. Was working fine, liked the finger print feature. Suddenly stopped working now asks for me to buy it again. Same linked s. ed developer who informed to uninstall. Still shows as not pro. Developer offered refund but that does not solve my problem. You need reliability for a safe, if its buggy and no fix then I would not recommend. Very disappointing. UPDATE: NOT 100% True. I was always using the correct . It was just buggy. It should not require me to uninstall, then go into another computer and it remotely. That is not a fix but a work around. I do like the product but I still believe it could be improved upon. Based upon this I would certainly look at other options first.

It is a very good app, however it is impossible to copy the data.crypt file into awallet directory on the phone using Windows 11. I happen to own an old laptop running Windows 7, and was able to copy said file with no problem. Edit: response to Synpet, I followed those instructions to the letter. Yes you can access awallet folder from Win 11, you can see the file, you can copy it from that folder, but Win 11 will not allow to copy it into awallet folder on the phone. On Win 7 it works perfect
